Miller (b. 11/24/1911-d. 11/8/2006) was the son of Henry C. and Marguarite E. Miller. He was a life-long school teacher at Terra Alta High School. He served in both World War II and the Korean War.

Description:
Miller was the daughter of Henry E. and "Maggie" Margarite E. Miller. Her siblings were E. Paul Miller, Harold H. Miller, and Marie Miller Davis. The family was from the towns of Kingwood and Tunnelton, W. Va.--both located in Preston County, W. Va. Miller was born in 1908 and attended West Virginia University, where she joined a sorority, identified in the photo as Gamma Phi Beta.
Text on the front and back reads, "This was an undershot water powered mill. The dam was located near the E. H. Simpson property. The mill was owned by William Matlick at the time it burned. The mill was located at Marquess, W. Va. The small part on the right built between 1825-1830."

An early image of the entrance to Cooper's Rock State Forest before gates or other structures were built. During the Great Depression the Civilian Conservation Corps built a number of structures for the State Forest.
A woman reclines in a bed at Hopemont Sanitarium. A light fixture is visible, attached to the head of the bed. Another light fixture is seen plugged into the wall with several photos and items hung on the cord.
This image is part of the Thompson Family of Canaan Valley Collection. The Thompson family played a large role in the timber industry of Tucker County during the 1800s, and later prospered in the region as farmers, business owners, and prominent members of the Canaan Valley community.
