Bridge at Harpers Ferry, W. Va. 'The most picturesque, beautiful, and historical spot in America. The view is from the top of Bolivar Heights overlooking the city. To the left is Md. Heights along the Potomac River, and to the right is Loudon Heights, in Va., along the Shenandoah River; the city itself being in W. Va. The confluence of the two rivers takes place under the B.& O. RR Bridge. Harper's Ferry is generally conceded to be the birthplace of the Civil War. A monument to John Brown has been erected alongside of the RR Track near the station. The Old Government Arsenal, which was destroyed by the Confederates in 1861 was located along the Potomac at the foot of city.'
