Caption on postcard reads: "The Hughes River Presbyterian Church was organized April 12, 1835. The Elders were Richard Wanless, Sr., David McGregor, and Wm. McKinney. The Trustees were D. McGregor, Jas. H. Harris, Wm. A. Wanless, J.T. Nourse, and H.B. McCollum. Up to 1871, the congregation worshiped in the log church in Egypt. Jan. 5, 1970 the following Building Committee was elected, M.L. Earnest, Rev. Nourse, Richard Wanless, Sr., D. McGregor, H.B. McCollum, and H.A. Merrick. The new church was dedicated in 1871 by Rev. The present building was dedicated in August 1893.On the back of the image, a caption reads: "This picture was taken in about 1912 -- 15  years before route 19 was graded through church [lot].  To Ruth Alkire Smith, from your Sunday School Teacher, Helen Sprigg. Christmas, 1956."
