Description:
The church was organized in 1855 in what was then known as Fetterman, Virginia. During the church building's construction, services were held in the carpenter shop of the Baltimore & Ohio Railroad Company in Grafton.

One of the nine reconstructed bridges (on the same spot) connecting Harpers Ferry over the Potomac River to Maryland. This bridge was also eventually destroyed during the Civil War.

Description:
This 305 foot long iron bridge over the Monongahela River in Marion County was built in 1852 at the astronomical price of 1/2 million dollars and was, at that time, the longest iron bridge in the country. Confederate General "Grumble" Jones targeted this bridge during his infamous 1863 raid. After two failed attempts to blow the bridge, he succeeded on the third try.

Willard Hotel and the Baltimore and Ohio Railroad Station in Grafton, W. Va. are located on East Main Street. The station was built in 1911 and the hotel in 1913.
The Bloomington Bridge, finished around 1842, was part of the Baltimore and Ohio Railroad's route past Piedmont, W. Va. The bridge crosses the North Branch Potomac River.

Belgen was born in Boston, Massachusetts, and attended Harvard University, graduating in 1897. He worked as an engineer in Central America, South America, Washington, D. C., and eventually began working for the Baltimore and Ohio Railroad company.
