This image is part of the Thompson Family of Canaan Valley Collection. The Thompson family played a large role in the timber industry of Tucker Country during the 1800s, and later prospered in the region as farmers, business owners, and prominent members of the Canaan Valley community.

Jose Iturbi was a popular pianist and conductor, who's first worldwide concert tour began in 1912 at the age of 18. He first appeared in America in 1929 and toured the world into his eighties before he passed away on June 28, 1980. He also appeared in several Hollywood films in the 1940's.
