'West Virginia University was host Saturday (Nov. 11) to the state's top High School Scholars, all semi-finalists in the National Merit Scholarship Competition. Among invited semi-finalists present was Judith Childs of Morgantown High School, Shown above at a luncheon in the new Mountainlair where the honor guests and their parents met members of the WVU administration and faculty. After the Luncheon, during which President James G. Harlow personally commended the students for thier academic achievements, the group toured the University's three Morgantown campuses. 'Lt. Colonel Helmuth E. Eberhard, Commander of the Lockbourne AFB AFROTC Summer Training Unit, presents the AFROTC Athletic Award to cadet Leonard O. Bloom, AFROTC Department 915, West Virginia University, Morgantown, W.Va. Inclusive dates of the summer training unit were 16 June- 13 July 63. A total of 235 cadets competed for the award.'

'CONGRATULATIONS, SCHOLAR--Dr. Vincent J. Traynelis, professor and chairman of the West Virginia University department of chemistry, presents a chemistry reference book to Woodrow P. Corley, electrical engineering sophomore from Clarksburg, for being the most outstanding student in last year's freshman chemistry classes. The award is given annually to the student who scores highest on the department's Chemistry 15 final examination. Out of more than 1,000 students in last year's class, Corley scored highest with a 100 percent grade. He was presented the award in front of members of this year's class.'
