West Virginia University's oldest building completed in 1870 stands beside Woodburn Seminary.
A popular school for young ladies under the directorship of James and Elizabeth Moore. Subsequently the building was donated to help establish West Virginia University in 1867 and was used as a dormitory for young men. It stood where Woodburn Hall now stands, and  was destroyed by fire in 1873.

Martin Hall is on the left and Woodburn Seminary to the right. Martin Hall was the first building constructed for the University. Woodburn Seminary burnt down in 1873. Woodburn Hall was built soon afterwards on the site.
The building was located where Woodburn Hall stands now.
