D. and Gary Shimoda of Honolulu, Hawaii, on the steps of West Virginia's state capitol at Charleston. Wilkens is an All-State basketball player; for Shimoda, this is his first trip to the U. S. Mainland. The camp, which is held deep in the Allegheny Mountains near Bartow, W. 'Idaho's representatives, Dick Goldberg (left) of Sun Valley and Jim Willms of Gooding, are operating an IBM 1620 electronic digital computer at the National Youth Science Camp, deep in the Allegheny Mountains near Bartow, W. Va. The camp brings together the top two science-minded students from every state for lectures and seminars at research and professional levels, field trips to study the state's natural wonders, and side trips to the National Radio Astronomy Observatory at nearby Green Bank and the state and nation's capitols. The state of W. Va. sponsors the three weeks' camp, which ends July 17th.'
'Charleston, West Virginia--$100 ham and bacon will be served at the Pioneer Breakfast on Statehood Day, June 20th, at the Rose City Cafeteria on Lee Street in Charleston. The State of West Virginia will be 100 years old on June 20th and the Centennial Commission hopes all citizens sharing the same birth date will join in the festivities planned for the breakfast. A full course breakfast will be served from 7 til 9 a.m. and there will be entertainment and prizes for the guests. Committee in charge includes, reading left to right, Bob Phillips and Juanita McCollam, co-chairmen of the event; Adj. General Gene Hall Williams and Grover Waybright, Jr. Both Mrs. McCollam and Adj. General Williams celebrate their birthdays on June 20th. Reservations may be made, or tickets for $1.00 purchased, from the Centennial Commission, 1608 Kanawha Boulevard, E. Charleston, West Virginia.'

Memorial to Karl Myers, First Poet Laureate of West Virginia, Moore Cemetery, Tucker County, W. Va.

Description:
Myers was West Virginia Poet Laureate from 1927 to 1937. His remains are buried in an unknown grave in an IOOF cemetery near Elkins. The people of Tucker County, determined to honor Myers, raised money to place this monument near the Myers family graves in Moore Cemetery. A bucket of dirt from the immediate area of where Karl Myers is thought to be buried was placed in his plot with the monument.
